Note | [hardin.FTW] "MARC HARDIN born CIRCA 1660, ROUEN, NORMANDY, FRANCE, ref: FAMILY RECORD, occupation FARMER & INN KEEPER, married CIRCA 1709, in ENGLAND, MARIE MADELINE de la CHAUMETTE HOGUE, born CIRCA 1670, ROUEN, NORMANDY, FRANCE, (daughter of WILLIAM HOGUE and BARBARA HUME) died FAUQUIER CO., VIRGINIA. MARC died CIRCA 1734, ELK RUN, FAUQUIER CO., VIRGINIA. After residing a short period in England, Marc and his wife Marie emigrated to Newfoundland (Canada) about 1710. Due to the hardships of weather, he and his family took passage to the Virginia Colony around 1716. Marc then purchased land in the Elk Run sector of Fauquier County. he began to acquire a substantial estate and owned an inn or "ordinary" as they were called. After he died in 1734, his second son, Martin, took over the inn and remained in Fauquier County." Source: H.
