Note	[Harold Grinstead Family.FTW] Alberta "Birdie" was living with George Dutton in Smyth Co. according to the 1870 census. Mr. Dutton was Birdie's grandfather and the father-in-law of Birdie's uncle Rufus who was living with her father and mother when the 1860 census was taken. She had four brothers and sisters and three half brothers and sisters, but as of now Birdie is the only one of Adam's children that can be accounted for. She told her children that she was an orphan and had been adopted, but obviously, she had not been since she still went by the name of Cassell and not Dutton when she got married. A note was attached to the marriage license issued to Parker Grinstead and Cornelia B. Cassel. She by went by Birdie instead of Alberta and put Corenlia B. on the marriage license. The note is as follows and was hand written by George Dutton. "June 5th 1877 Mr. William Sexton Co. Clerk Sir You will please issue license for P.S. Grinstead & Cornelia B. Cassell as she has been under my control for several years past they therefore have my full consent to the marriage Yours respectfully George Dutton" NOTE: PLEASE SEE "PARKER SMITH GRINSTEAD" IN THE DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM GRINSTEAD TO CONTINUE THIS FAMILY LINE
